Another scary statistic we have is that if we had continued to only pay the minimum that was asked until now, we'd have only paid off 12% of our debt instead of being DF, and our minumum payment would still be £231.79 even after all this time. It's amazing what paying off a little extra and making simple changes makes.0

When your DFD is over 70 years away, you're struggling to make ends meet, even at minimum payments, you're job's future is insecure , you can't see anything likely to improve and your OH is making themselves ill with worry, it was either sit in some black hole and wish the world would just wash over us, go away and ignore us, or do something about it. I think we would have both stayed in that cycle of despair if we hadn't discovered that by maintaining our initial level of payment would give us a realisable and achievable DF date that we had enough inspiration to tackle it with the support and tips from MSE.
Small steps, small successes and small targets all helped.0 -
