Beginner's daft questions!

Ok so I'm quite new to selling on ebay and I've managed to sell 10 items in the past week but I don't quite understand how the bidders bid.
I've got a couple of items that are due to end tomorrow and both of them have 4 watchers but no bids yet, so does that mean that no-one had bid yet or that they have placed bids but they won't show yet? Sorry I hope that makes sense.
Last week on one of my items I was getting a new bid each day and during the last few hours I ended up with 6 different bids. At the moment it looks as if no-one is interested in my stuff or are they?!?
Thanks

    I've been Money Tipped!
Most people on here will tell you that you get the best value if you bid at the last minute.
So indeed, at the moment no-one is buying your goods, but it could all change in the last minutes if some of the watchers decide to proceed with the purchase.

If you have 4 watchers, there are 4 people that have saved your auction details on Myebay. They haven't bid as yet or the bids would show.

Watchers can be potential buyers or just people interested in seeing how much the item sells for.

Good luck with the sales! :T
  • I used to get excited when I had loads of people watching my items but I soon realised that it doesn't guarantee you any actual bids. Don't worry if very near the end of the auction your item looks like it's going to sell for less than you hoped as the price can change drastically at the very end as bidders rush to outbid each other.
    :D
  • Typically, if I am looking for a coffe machine for example (£500) then I will have several of them set to be watched as I am not going to bid on all of them straight away and end up with 5 * £500 coffee machines! Even if I'm not trying to keep the bidding low, it makes sense to have a few items on watch and if one gets too high you can discount it.

If you are worried about people lurking and doing suprise bids at the end to get it cheap the only thing you can do is put a reserve price on future items.
