How would that work. Bug queue at checkout, me squeezing through, "please just weigh this for me". Either I'm going to be told to wait my turn, which would take ages, or the people in the Q are going to be a bit annoyed.

Take more than you need. Then leave the rest next to the till.

Either way would work, especially if you hover round the F&G section mentioning that you have to get F&G weighed at the checkouts now.

Queues full of people only wanting stuff weighed would soon get the scales back
