can anyone confirm whether having downloaded a track I can then put it on a cd? I was assumed that there was some software which prevented me from doing so.

A few years ago most downloads came with DRM which restricted what you can do with them. Happily DRM on music tracks has all but disappeared so as soon as you download the MP3 you can do what you like with it.0

What format have you downloaded it in?
FLAC?
SHN?
mp3?

Have you downloaded it from the iTunes store into your iTunes library?0 -
Hi Googler, I haven't yet downloaded the track that I wanted but i was just going to put it on my laptop then burn it to cd for use elsewhere. Any suggestions as to the best way to do this would be great.I have windows Media player.0

Windows Media Player should do it.
Type "Burning Audio" in Help search box and it will guide you through it.
(Win 7 & Media player 11 definitely does it - not sure about previous versions)"It's nice to be important but more important to be nice"

You should have burning software on your PC besides WM (which will do it).
