Wedding suppliers and contracts?

Hi everyone,

I'm going to start booking suppliers after Christmas/January time before they get booked up for the following summer when we get married. Someone said people get engaged over Christmas and new year and book things for the following year so I want to get organised before my perfered companies get booked up :) one company said they are taking booking for 2014

I have paperwork from our reception venue for what is included in our package and our quote etc but what do I need to get from the dj and photographer? Do I ask for a contract or something written down as proof? I have no idea about this sort of stuff :o

Thanks :D

  • If they're professional enough then you will get this anyway. May just be in the form of a receipt or invoice, or my be a confirmation email. You don't always need a contract, just cinfirmation of price, what's included for that price, and how much you've paid

I would always ask for written confirmation and make sure you get your insurance before you book.

Hi! Well done on getting organised in advance! I think this is a good idea - we booked our band about 16months in advance and our photographer, hairdresser and dressmaker just over a year in advance and their diaries were filling up so the earlier the better I would say so you don't miss out on who you really want to book.

Our band and photographer gave us a contract confirming date, venue, time, what services they have agreed to provide and cancellation policy. With my dressmaker, hairdresser and florist I have had invoices and receipts for deposits detailing the services we have paid for.

These were all given to us without us having to ask, but if they don't offer then I would ask them for some kind of agreement to say that they will be at the venue on the date and time etc. I am also keeping all emails between myself and the suppliers just as extra proof in case anything happens.

    Hope that helps :)
