I wanna buy some 'french style cordial/syrup'

Does anyone know where I can get hold of some cordial/syrup for making drinks with water or adding to alcohol like the kind you can buy in France? The kind I'm thinking of comes in kind of tall tins and is in loads of flavours - much wider range than is available here. I've found Monin syrups which I presume are similar but they come in glass bottles and I'd like to find the kind in tins.

They sometimes sell syrup in tall tins in Lidls, I've seen a few varities - strawberry, raspberry, lemon..but they only get them in a few times a year, is that the kind of thing you are looking for?

Yes, it sounds like it (lidl tend to do foreign food don't they?) It's some of the more unusual varieties I'm after though, like grenadine, passion fruit and lychee.

i got a grenadine syrup like this in asda next to the alcohol - it was fairly expenzive though.

Is that the one that is 3.5% alcohol? I have seen that but not tried it.

nope- you add the alcohol yourself- it is just mixer syrup.
i wanted to make 'shirley temple' cocktails for the kiddies but it was way sweet so maybe there's a trick to it that i don't know.
