Wedding Dresses - if you are anywhere near leicestershire try this!

Hi ladies

I just had to come on to sing the praise of The Wedding Dress Factory Outlet in Burbage, Leicestershire (just google 'wedding dress burbage and it'll come up!)

I know that this place has been mentioned in other threads before, but I am not sure whether there is a specific mention of them in a thread of their own and after my experience of them at the weekend I just had to post and let you all know how fab they are - and how if you are in any sort of travelling distance to Leicestershire it is worth it!

For anyone who has read my other posts I actually already had a dress for my wedding. Not a wedding dress, but an ex stage costume which was as close to what I wanted as I could find. And in defence of that dress it is really beautiful (I am feeling guilty now it has been rejected!). However I'd got it off ebay, and my mum and sisters really felt I should go an try on a 'proper' dress, just so I could be sure I had made the right choice, and to get the experience of trying on dresses etc. So on Saturday off we went to The Wedding Dress Factory Outlet. We had been there before last year for my sisters wedding, she didn't buy from there but we had a fab experience the first time.

Anyway, to cut a long story short I went, I tried on, I fell in love. I really didn't think I could feel like that about a dress, but I genuinely cried when I put it on, there was no way in the world I could imagine wearing anything else on my wedding day. But it's not just because I found 'the dress' that I want to sing the praises of the store. Its because...

The staff are lovely, they are attentive but not pushy and give great advice on underskirts, veils etc.

The atmosphere is lovely - not pretentious, but not so casual that it doesn't feel like a special occassion.

And as this is MSE I have to mention, the prices! I think the most expensive dress in the place is £500. I believe some are end of line, used in modelling shoots etc, but every dress I have seen there is immaculate, you'd never know! They have a range of sizes, and quite a few different styles. Yes, there is a lot of 'strapless' as it seems to be the current trend, but there are a lot of other options. My dress is like nothing I have seen anywhere else, it really feels like something special.

Also worth mentioning is the fact that when we went to pay, my dress was £400, the lady serving us when we paid then very honestly pointed out that was a tiny hole (and I mean tiny, about 5mm round!) in the netting, she said she had noticed it a few weeks ago and had to mention it. She insisted on taking £50 on the price of the dress because of this. I think honesty like that deserves noting!

I am not sure if there are places like this in other towns, but I am really lucky to have this close by, if you are struggling to find the dress, or you are looking for a bargain, then I would 110% recommend you try it out!

Happy wedding dress hunting ladies! :T

    Hi

Glad you had a brill time :) Sounds like a lovely store.

Can I be nosey and ask which dress you have chosen??? Any chance of a photo?
  • Hi Hadley, I am afraid I haven't got a clue what the dress is called or even who it's by - it's squirrelled away at my mums house at the moment. When I get to see it next I will try and find the details :-) Might have to message you them though as I don't want my future Mr having a sneak peek :)

    Hi

That would be great... Can't wait to hear from you.

My Oh doesn't come on here - so I'm fine on that score.:rotfl:

I just wanted to bump this up and to say a big thank you to Miss Bolan because I went here today based on this post and I found my wedding dress. It looks stunning and I cannot wait to wear it and it was for what I consider to be the bargain price of £399. I even brought a lovely veil in just the right colour for £25. It's an amazing shop and you cannot tell that I have paid that amount of money. It looks like a dress that cost considerably more.

I would definitely advise any brides looking for a bargain dress to come here. Now I need to look for bridesmaids dresses :p

    Yey Vickyvics! :j

I am glad someone else found something there, it really is brilliant! (and I am still entering their monthly facebook competition to try and win the price of my dress back - worth a go!)

    xx

  • im thinking of going to look around as all the wedding shops i have been to the dresses are in sizes 12/14 so when i try them on they do not fit properly. Can you just turn up? and is there anything else around the area as OH will be taking us and needs somewhere to go whilst we're in the shop

Hi snowybutterfly, you don't have to book, you just turn up.

There's not a lot in the area itself, as the place is a converted warehouse. There is a town a short drive away and I'm sure there must be a pub locally! I wouldn't let the lack of local entertainment for your other half put you off, this place is a treasure and well worth a visit!

I would say the same. It is definitely worth a visit. I couldn't believe how lovely the dresses were and how friendly and helpful the assistants were. I too keep entering their monthly competition. Would love to win back my dress cost lol. I went on Sunday lunchtime-ish and there were two other brides in there and I was able to basically have a shop assistant all to myself. Although they don't alter the dresses themselves, they do know how they can be altered and have some recommendations for seamstresses. Even with the cost of a seamstress though you can still save a considerable amount of money.
  • Thanks i'll try to get up there at Easter time as i have 2 weeks of work.
