I gave blood for the first time last year. I had needles too. And no matter how many times I heard that it really wasn't as bad as you think it will be, I wasn't convinced until I actually went myself and gave blood, and tis true...it really isn't as bad as you imagine it to be...and you get that warm fuzzy feeling - along with the lightheaded one - about helping others

Our Blood Donors is very well organised - but they dont have ice-cream as a reward!!!
A nice cup of tea and choccie bics though - lovely.
I usually take one or other of my kids with me when I go and they love to get a cup of juice and biscuits as well - I think the Blood Donor staff like to encourage the next generation of donors and it lets them see how easy it is to give.Your really can not beat a good bargain !!!0 -
Yeah, I gave blood and then played football, I actually blacked out standing up, but managed to keep my balance. Really really good feeling, and if they are giving out free ice cream its even more of an incentive to give blood now!0

My parents give blood, Dad has donated over 50units, Mum over 30. I'm only 23 but have already donated 16units. Now they are offering ice cream and I'm now pregnant and can't donate so what bad timing, oh well will have to send OH out for some instead!!!:heart2: Charlie born Aug 2007 :heart2: Reece born May 2009
