American style fridge freezer

Can anybody point me in the right direction please? I'm looking to buy one of those american style fridge freezers in silver, just wondering if anybody had any good links or information for the best bargains?

Empire Direct have a selection in the "American Cooling" section of their Sale.

I noticed because I had my 'wrist slapped' from a board moderator, silly naive me, for including a voucher code - but I don't know if it is still valid or for what you are after.

Actually it was this one ....

.... and the voucher code took it down to about £450 inc delivery, but as I said I don't know if that is still valid

Just a small point.... have you measured your doorways, and have you got the extra plumbing for the thing?

I ask, because a friend of mine went for one of these and when it turned up she had to get it into the house through the french doors, which were luckily in the open plan dining area. She also had to get a plumber in as it required a water pipe connection for the ice-maker.

We are also looking to buy one of these and a few people have said to us "whatever you do, get one with an internal filter otherwise you have to fit the external filter in an adjoining unit". Not sure how true this is, perhaps someone who has one can clarify. Looking at the ranges available, the internal filter ones are more expensive though.

We have the Samsung mentioned above originally it was next to the wall with the garage on the otherside OH made hole in wall and attached filter via the water supply in the garage. When we redesigned the kitchen we now have the water pipe running underneath the kitchen cupboards and the filter is fixed to the wall behind one of the drawers so all we do is take a drawer out to replace the filter. If you can make it work somehow it is worth it - we actually designed our new kitchen around it because we love it soooo much.

    Hope this helps.

Please don't let this put you off, I got one and plumbed it in with no plumbing experience. went to b&q told the man what I wanted to do he gave me a y-piece that I put inbetween the washine machine supply and attahed the other end to fridge all by hand and one 13mm spanner for connecting the fidge. Took 2 mins and ran the tubing behind the kick plates under the kitchen units

And the external filter just fits in a bracket stuck on the rear of the fridge where noone can see it.
