Keeping up with the Jones' - Christmas decorations

In the spirit of Christmas, I hung a festive star decoration outside my front door on 24th November. Minimalist and tasteful, I thought, none of your flashy displays. (Plus I was having a bit of a tidy up at home that day and unexpectedly found it
). Part of me wondered whether my treasured decoration would survive or be misappropriated by feral youth? I needn't have worried.
I came home the next evening to find that my next door neighbour had displayed a very similar but slightly larger decoration near their front door. I visited the 99p store on the Saturday, and was looking for one more item so I could use my credit card to pay for my goods...and there it was, a glitzy, tinsley, gold sprayed star. I forgot about it's existence until I opened up the car boot on Friday, at which point I hung my new treasure with pride, alongside the original star feature. Well satsified with my display, I drove off for the weekend.
Imagine my surprise when I returned home yesterday evening to find that my neighbours had also invested in another star ! Not only that, they had firmly lodged a stake in the ground declaring "Merry Christmas".
The stakes have been raised...what should I do next? Has anyone else ever experienced neighbourly rivalry in Christmas spirit? Where will it all end? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I sooooo love this! Really made me laugh :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
The house at the end of our street always goes nuts with the outside of their house - you can see if for miles. last year the house opposite decided to join in and went all out with the lights and outdoor snowglobes etc.
This year the second house don't seem to be bothering - I reckon they got their electric bill last year and thought better of it :rotfl:
VfM4meplse - Don't buy anything else - just get a large odd shaped box and plant it on the front lawn and cover in a big sheet. Then sit back and wait to see what they do :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
