  • Congrats to Martin for starting the ball rolling on this topic. I expect the government valuers have him top of their hit list for upsetting their quiet life. I could hardly get through to their web site. I could not get through to the phone line. I printed the list of bands for my street. There are properties from band D to band G in the same street. I think this shows up the growing !!!!-eyedness of the whole system.

P.S. Martin, don't worry about taking your clothes off. I've already put your name forward for "Even More Further Tales of the City". I see you playing a love triangle with "Mouse" and Jon.

    OR IS IT?

In some cases we may be doing The "Job" for them?

We live in a detached bungalow in N Wales and we queried the fact that our neighbours who have corner plots were in a Band lower than ourselves last April.

After many hearings we finally had a response to the effect that our neighbours would be advised that their Banding would be going up from D to E.

So I am sure if they find out why we will be VERY POPULAR.

If we had expected that to happen we wouldn't have bothered to challenge it!!

So just be aware this doesn't benefit everyone.

bloaty not a good story - yet plese remember the whole point of the article is NOT speculatively appealing, but using the system to check whether its worth appealing or not; that the big difference.

    Hi Martin

Yes, thats what I thought I did.

I also withdrew my application but apparently it was still listed under the hearing and the officer stated that I had withdrawn and the reasons why but the judge or whoever wasn't satisfied with the VOAs response and said that more information was required before he closed the case.

The VOA then sent me details of other properties within my postal area that were in the same band as us.

We then received a letter stating that they had just completed the review of detached bungalows on my road and confirm that those bungalows similar to mine on a lower band at Band D will be increased to Band E and band alterations have now been undertaken and each occupier has been notified of this.

This was not a criticism of your article as I am sure many people have successfully had their banding reduced but I am just saddened that as a result of my actions my neighbours will now have to pay more for their CT.

    Maybe I handled it wrongly, I don't know.:o
