Car electrical problem - window won't close, boot won' open!

Hi, hope someone can help please.
My sister has a Daewoo Tacuma 2004. She hasn't had it long. Today the non drivers side window is stuck down and won't wind up week electrically. At the same time as this happened the boot will now not open at all. She really relies on the car as she has s baby and can't afford another hefty repair bill.
The car has a remote zapper and she has tried both this and the key in the boot, but neither will work.
could this be a fuse and is this something easy to repair ourselves rather than having to take to a garage?
Any advice very gratefully received.
Thanks in advance.

Do any of the other windows work (up and down)?
If they do, then it would appear that the fuses are OK. It could be that the window glass has come adrift from the runner (can you hear the motor turning when you press the window close button?) or the winder cable has snapped, or the motor itself has called it a day.0 -
Battery on its last legs or does it still start OK? Not slower to crank the engine over?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Does it have electric wing mirrors and does the passenger one work?
On my Supra i lost the passenger window and electric wing mirror. Behind the plastic panel just next to the accelerator there's a connection block which wasn't clipped together.0 -
Some cars, such as Honda's for example have a switch by the leccy window switch which "locks" all the other windows.
It's a handy feature, but we used to get all sorts of people moaning that "the car they just bought was a load of rubbish as the windows didn't work...".0 -
Good point, think it's most Jap cars. Comes in useful when you've got a fart brewing0

Are you in the AA/Rac or anything. they may not come to your home you may need to go to a pub and say you're stuck in the car park.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Hi
A belated thanks to everyone for the replies. She had to take it to a garage in the end but thankfully the boot not opening was being caused by a spring/part which had rusted and will only cost around £10 to replace.
The window she has had to leave until the New Year as she can't afford to fix that now. It doesn't seem to be a fuse problem but something more serious/expensive to fix unfortunately! It is just one window so either the motor or slipped off its runner as suggested above?
Thanks for the speedy replies though.0
