Paternity Leave & Bank Holiday Advice

Posts: 3 Newbie
Hello!
I'm looking for a little be of advice / guidance in relation to my paternity leave. Hopefully any of recent parents here may have experienced this and will be able to help.
My partner is due to have our baby by c-section on the 14th of December :j. I would be looking to take 2 weeks paternity starting on the 14th. My main concern is regarding the two public bank holidays (December 26th and 27th), will my paternity leave disregard the two bank holidays? Resulting in me losing my bank holidays, or will I be able to take the bank holidays at a later date within this holiday year?
I am currently entitled to 30 days holiday a year (28 as statutory and 2 extra days for the length of time I have been with the company).
Below is a few relevant snippets from my contract:
You are entitled to 28 days per annum (based on working 5 days a week), which is inclusive of the recognised Public Holidays. You may occasionally be required to work on a Public Holiday, you may be entitled to the day off in lieu.
Holiday entitlement increases by 2 days each holiday year, after each complete holiday year in employment, up to a maximum of 38 days per annum.
You are required to take at least one week's holiday during the schools' summer break and 3 days to cover the working days between Christmas and New Year.
Any links to any relevant government websites would be most helpful.
Thank you

Would it be easier if you just took eight days annual holiday and 2 bank holidays, you would at least get holiday pay.
I dont think paternity pay is very much.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
hi - with maternity leave you would usually get the bank holidays granted back, and can carry them over if you can't take them in the current leave year. So presuming it may be the same with paternity leave too. But have you actually asked your employer yet?0

A friend is in a similar situation and her husband has been told by his employers that depending on when she gives birth he can split his paternity leave before and after Christmas - I don't know if that is just them being nice however0

@clairec79
That definitely sounds like a fantastic employer. According to the law paternity leave needs to be taken in one block.
@an9i77
I haven't asked them yet. I just wanted to do a little research first, just so I know what I'm talking about.
@McKneff That may be an interesting option. I'll have to add up how many holidays I have remaining.0
