The company a mate works for has finally sent a contract to sign, they work a minimum 25 hours per week but if not needed for the 25 hours and it is through no fault of there own they still get paid the minimum of 25 hours. In the contract the hours have been left blank which could be a way out of paying the minimum hours if not needed and the contract expires in March 2012 when the job is supposed to be permanent.Would you query or sign?

There really needs to be an hour figure where its blank. They could just as easily put a big fat zero in there after wards in which case he would be on Zero hours and only get paid for the hours he worked. Definitely query it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Thanks i will advise, any advice regarding the length of the contract?0

Does it say anything in his contract about it turning into permanent work, it maybe needs to do so. So query that also.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

It doesn't say anything about permanent but the job is permanent,or so they was told.0

How long have they been working there already?has finally sent a contract to sign
I would be concerned by the contract end date.
Best case, it's all a mistake that they will correct. Worst case, they have limited work & are looking at ways to trim the wage bill. (ok, a bit of a stretch but still possible without further info)0 -
They started in Sept 2011 and the contract has just come through, the company are paying for numerous training and renewal courses so i don't think they would do that if they was going to lay people off.0

Fill it in with the hours you agreed (25)... If you have space, use something like "at least 25".The company a mate works for has finally sent a contract to sign, they work a minimum 25 hours per week but if not needed for the 25 hours and it is through no fault of there own they still get paid the minimum of 25 hours. In the contract the hours have been left blank which could be a way out of paying the minimum hours if not needed and the contract expires in March 2012 when the job is supposed to be permanent.Would you query or sign?
It is an agreement between employer and employee - you have a right to negotiate terms... so simply filling in the blanks wouldnt be too much of a problem... but you could ask if you prefer.
Permanent simply means it hasn't got an end date, so if one has an expiry/termination date... be it 3 months or 10 years... it is not permanent (although the latter wouldn't be temporary either).0
