Worried- personal info found on Google after comping

Hi everyone, not sure if this is the right place to post this but - last night I googled my name (as you do) and was excited (at first) to see my name listed under a link for bauer (publishers) puzzles and codebreakers. It turns out that instead of finding that I had won something when I tried to open the link I couldn't but I clicked on the preview where it said cached and found my full home address, my email address and my mobile no. There are lots of other names and addresses listed too - it looks like a list of all those who entered. The competition I entered seems to be from Jan. 2009. I'm extremely annoyed about this - does anyone know who I should report this to or how to get it removed? Also, are any of you also on the list?

  • Worrying for you
You need to check the T&Cs of the comp to see what you agreed to when you signed up to them, and then if they have been breached, report company to the Information Commisioner
You never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow

Can you post the link to the list of names?

The link won't open but you can view it through google I just typed in my name and under the results it said bauer2.hbauer.co.uk/archive/compo_export/puzzles_archive.txt when I tried to open the link it said the page couldn't be found but I could view google's cache of the page and there are well over 100 names on it.
  • I think this has been mentioned before although not 100% sure it is with this site.

I don't see any point in worrying. If someone wants your personal details there are ways and means of finding them.

Just look at Facebook for instance how much people post on there? I often wonder if insurance companies now check FB to see if people post things like "off on our hols next week" then when the peeps find they have been burgled when they come home, I wonder if you have announced it on FB would the insurance co pay the claim??

Another example is looks at how many comps we serious compers enter. How many sites are our details with? What if they had their database stolen, office ransacked. As I said, if someone wants your details they can be easily obtained,

Seriously I wouldn't worry about it, when you use the internet you are taking a risk by leaving your details with anyone.

Hopefully but google won't be the only search engine that has it stored there will be more.

There's quite a few from 09 that got through security. Hope they fix it and delete your names soon.
