Bailiffs & Bankruptcy

  • there was no new agreement made over the phone or by post. I pay by card over the phone and I make sure that the payment is made a few days before the date. I actually read it wrong, they stated from 30th and then every 31 days, I thought it was every 30th of the month and i've been making payments on 26th.
interestingly, the letter template you posted on here, i copied and put my own references in. i emailed it and within a day had a reply from the council answering the questions they could. It turns out that the debt that was passed onto the bailiff was then reduced because of us being in reciept of benefit. this is something that's not been passed down to us. The debt was reduced by over £350 but our current bill from bailiff is more than what it should have been from last year, so it obviously not been passed on. I'm determined to fight this all the way. I'm sick of companies like these thinking they can walk all over us and make up the rules as they go along. Oh and our local MP has written to our council to with regards to the debt and bailiffs too, so again, I'll keep you posted :)

Id utilise the complaint route with the council and then if not satisfied go to the local government ombusdman.
