Hi i am currently unemployed left 31/12/06.. Im looking for work and claiming jsa. I might have an idea to open up a business im i entitled to a grant or loans?
At the moment i only just started receiving £107pw from jsa for my wife and kid..
I have a mortgage of around £550pm and other bills etc mounting upto around £1100pm in total.
My wife is also 8months pregnant and I won't be able to work until she our second kid and settled down..
Is there any other things i can claim for the time being? I've checked for maternity allowance but she left her work in jan 06.
We both live in scotland.
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks

Are you claiming child tax credits? It'll go up after you have yr second and you'll get a little extra the whole time baby is under a year.
Is yr wife claiming anything? I'm not sure but she might be entitled to incapacity benefit being in the later stages of pg and she would get it for a few weeks after the birth as well. I know it's the alternative to SMP and MA as a maternity benefit but is not paid for as long. You'll probably also be entitled to the Sure Start Maternity Grant as well: http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/JCP/Customers/WorkingAgeBenefits/Dev_007966.xml.html
You might be able to get help with the interest on yr mortgage too - go to http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/jcp/Partners/Allowancesandbenefits/Dev_010056.xml.html
