Does anyone know - if I were giving someone an ipad or something for Christmas :) is there any way to download this now. I know you can buy apps for gifts and you just need their email address.
  • Thank you op, I've got an iPad & have just downloaded it for a try :D

You'd have to set up their Apple ID on the iPad/iPhone & download it onto it, don't think there's any other way around it sorry

Thank you Sammypants. I'll forget about this then, I think they'll have more fun setting up the whole thing from scratch themselves.

if you have itunes get an appleID and buy the app through itunes with said appleID, obviously if the person you are giving the ipad to already has an appleID then it would be preferable to buy it on that appleID.

in fact I used to buy all the apps I found interesting this way long before I had an iDevice, I even now I buy iPad apps that are on special offer just in case I get an iPad one day, that's how I have managed to have literally hundreds of 'paid for' apps for free, just get them while they are free.
