Looking for some advice re my mortgage. I have sent a letter of complaint, twice, to the Halifax and they have not answered me. I sent it in August and then again in November. I felt it was a significant complaint but they obviously don't. Would my next step to be send to the financial ombudsman.

If you cannot get a reply from the lender, you appear to have little alternative.I am a mortgage broker. Ensure you send it recorded delivery, thereby you can prove to FOS that HBOS are willfully electing to disregard your complaint (although to be honest, I do suspect if no acknowledgement from them at all, that your correspondence hasn't arrived with the Customer Relations Team).
If you write to FOS, they will write to Halifax with a copy of your complaint and request their response, if they then choose not to partake in any resolution, FOS will take things forward.
Hope this helps

When you say Halifax hasn't answered you, do you mean they haven't given you a sensible response to the issues raised, or do you mean they haven't even acknowledged your complaint?
If the latter, send it again to the address Halifax gives on its website.
I sent the letter twice and it hasn't been acknowledged either time. I asked for a written reply as in the past they phone you at work and expect you to be able to talk for 30-40 mins about your private business with your colleagues and bosses listening in.
Just sent an email to the Financial Ombudsman and hope they will be able to help.0 -

That isnt how the complaints process works. Yes, they may contact you by phone at some point but they have to acknowledge the complaint and make you aware of the process. This suggests that the complaints are not getting to the complaints dept.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
