tax rebate for cleaning uniform

in Cutting tax
I have recently had some success from reclaiming tax from the last 6 years via a company who through a UNITE leaflet which they recommended. I am just waiting for the payment. They take a cut of what they get back which I did nt mind as it was a no win no fee deal and I did not think I was entitled to a rebate but I was wrong. It seems if you are provided with an uniform of which you maintain and clean yourself your tax code alters (mine altered around £240).
My wife works for a travel agent and she too wears company uniform which she also cleans/maintains, I was wondering if anyone knew how to cut out the middle man and claim it back?

great shame you did not use the search function on this board rather than always believing that your union only acts in your best interest - I think it is disgusting that unions "recommend" (ie get a cut from) these middlemen companies as, in reality, about all you have to do is write a letter to HMRC. It would take the union very little work to produce its own template letter and 1 page guide for its members, but then the union boss would not get their cut of the money
washing of uniforms is possibly the most asked question on here, it is explained in depth on this thread
