I might be understanding this wrong, but would the answer not be 78?

I thought we would have to add together 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.

Im assuming on each day x gifts were given, so on day 2 there were 3 in total, two doves and the partridge and so on. I went with 364.

I cant sing that song without singing Alan Partridge in a pear tree! His Christmas special was on the other day, classic!
