Leave a permanent job you love but have issues at, for an "exciting" opportunity fixed six month term one with only a potential option to go permanent ( if the option is there )

What I certainly would NOT do is leave the decision to a bunch of random people on an internet message board!0

Exactly. What does it matter what we would do?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

But we don't know :
What are the issues at your current job
Can these issues be resolved
What is the exciting opportunity
How likely is the option to go permanent
What are your personal circumstances - eg. partner, children to consider
What are your financial circumstances - eg. mortgage, rent commitments, loans
Basically, if you need to ask then you should probably stay where you are and work on resolving whatever the issues are.0 -
I just took a big risk on a three month contract, because I just loved the company, and it is an entirely different industry, I am very lucky to have got this opportunity.
In the worst case scenario, where I am not taken on after the contract is up, I will be in a fix, as I was only in the previous job six months - I will look flighty. Prospective employers will wonder why I wasn't taken perm too.
On the plus side, I have displayed versatility, and have opened myself up to a future of contract work (where I wasn't previously considered, being a full timer).
Occasionally the risk I have taken makes me feel sick, and three months is not a long time to learn a new industry, make improvements and prove yourself, but I do get a kick out of almighty challenges
You only get one life and you need to be positive and confident about your future. Can you imagine yourself in your current job still in one years time? Two years time? That is a key question to ask yourself.0 -
If the new job excites you, and you can afford to be unemployed for a while if you're not kept on, then I'd go for it. Life is too short to turn away from good opportunities.2022. 2% MF challenge. £730/30000
