Sewing Machine help

I know this isn't Christmassy, but all the crafty people seem to be in this part of the forum.

I've been wanting a sewing machine for a while and would love some advice. I have £50 birthday money but can top it up a bit.

I've never used a sewing machine before so the simpler the better, but hopefully I could get something not too flimsy for my money?

Ive seen this one in Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4602318/Trail/searchtext%3EBROTHER.htm

and this in Hobbycraft http://direct.hobbycraft.co.uk/products-Brother-LS-2125-Sewing-Machine_267864.htm

They are both £70 but I have a 25% off voucher for Hobbycraft. As i'm a complete novice I'm probably wrong but is the LS-2125 the better machine? Which one would people advise or is there a better beginners machine?

Just to give you an idea I do a lot of handsewing - fabric hearts, felt bits and bobs etc, just little projects; and I would like a machine to maybe tackle some bigger things like cushion covers etc.

I would really appreciate your help!!
