Shellac question

Had my first one yesterday and I love it but the lady who did it didn't give me much aftercare advice.
She did say not to use Solaroil on the nail itself but just on the cuticle as it would lift the Shellac if I did. My hands are dry today, am I right in thinking I need CND hand cream as other hand creams will lift the Shellac?
I have realised I will never play the Dane! :(

Where are my medals? Everyone else on here has medals!! :p

I've only had Shellac a couple of times but I can't see why - other than a cross sell of course. All hand creams have mostly the same basic ingredients.

You don't need to buy solar oil either if you don't want to - they all do a good job so pick one that you like. My nail tech is Creative trained and doesn't always use Solar on me.
  • i would just use your normal stuff one your hands i had these a few weeks ago and mines were fine
  • solar oil will NOT make any enhancements or polish including Shellac 'lift'.

solar oil isn't just any old cuticle oil. it's fabulous and a real must have for your handbags and to be honest at the price it is you can't complain... it's a couple of pounds per bottle and lasts foreeever! it's not just for nails, it can be used on dry skin and to help with the appearance of scars. i've also heard people say they use it in place of face moisturiser aswell as heard people say they use it on their hair to keep them annoying fly away bits down. it's got anti aging properties and comes in oober doober cute handbag sized bottles too. it's amazingness is all down to the ingrediants in the bottle, as the molecules instead of sitting on the skin and doing pretty much nothing are able to penetrate and do stuff! it helps nails to grow healthy and strong, to help prevent breakages and to make sure that your natural nails are well conditioned (have you ever been naughty and removed your acrylic liquid and powder nails yourself and they've been left bendy and not so good looking? well using solar oil help prevents that too as it'll put moisture back into your nails). it's not an award winning product for nothing :D

if your nail tech is telling you that it can't be used on your nails then you need to find yourself a new nail tech to be honest as i'd be worried about what else they are telling you/doing that is incorrect.

of course you don't have to use the cnd hand moisturisers, you can use whatever you like. cnd do an intensive moisturising creme in either citrus scent or almond scent which is absolutely perfect for these yucky, cold winter months as it smells so yummy scrummy it just leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy. it leaves that lovely velvety feel to your hands too but unlike other moisturisers it doesn't leave them sticky or wet feeling which i absolutely hate! there's nothing worse then putting on your hand lotion just to have to wipe it off with a tissue because it feels horrid on! if you just want an all day every day moisturiser and you don't want the citrus or almond scent then there's a whole range of scented moisturisers (and body washes!) including some real christmassy smelling ones! put some lovely moisturising cream on your hands before bed, then slip them into some cotton gloves and you'll be amazed at the difference in the morning! :D
