car won't start
I've had it with my Civic - it won't start in cold damp weather - at least not until an hour agfteer I needed it.
What can be wrong with it. Took it out at 8 this morning - engineturned and turned - zip. Left it in the drive 'til about 9.30 then starts first time. I can't go on like this.
What's wrong with the bl++dy thing?

No motoring expert but I think the clue here is 'damp'. Have you tried anything like 'Dampstart'? The car probably starts eventually because it's just that little bit warmer and drier...Once it's gone, it's gone - so remember...

When was it last serviced? Trouble starting in cold damp weather could be ignition leads or coil related. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Agree with Espresso... dizzy cap, HT leads, coil pack... something around there. Could be a crack in the dizzy cap and moisture is getting in.0

Agreed, damp is a likely contender. As a first step, take some time to give all of the ignition components and surrounding areas a really good clean ( muck and grime will give moisture even more to cling to ), then throroughly dry everything and spray liberally with WD40. This *may* help, but as others have said, it could be a sign of leads / dizzy starting to wear out. Not a huge expense if this is the case, but a thorough clean costs nowt, and a good drench of WD40 will be a few pence

Who still has a dizzy cap? I thought they were going the way of starting handles. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
