    Hi Debs,
Thank you so much for your reply! Your post has really reassured me.
We are still waiting for the offer to come through...how long did your offer take to come through after the survey? Have you checked on experian that they didn't do anymore credit checks after the one that they did on full application? They have only asked for our most recent payslips from both of us and said they don't need anything else. Was this the same for you?
Many thanks in advance, and congratulations on your offer!!
  • Hi Ammarah,

No worries about the post. These forums really helped me when I was waiting, so I'm glad I can pass on info too.

Halifax did my survey towards the end of November and I got my offer yesterday (there was a problem with my wageslips - which made the process longer, I believe. My fault - not theirs)

I received the offer via email from the processing team and it will also arrive via post either tomorrow or Friday. All in all, just under a couple of weeks since valuation but again, I think that was mostly to do with the hold up with the wage slips. Halifax said that usually the offer is completed within around a week after the valuation.

Do you have access to your Experian credit report? On mine there is a "soft print" (used to identify me, as I am not on the electorl role) and a search saying First Mortgage. This search was done on the day I applied and there have been no more since. Have a look on yours if you can. You can get a free trial for 30 days.

Finally, all I was asked for was my most recent wageslip. I thought I would have to send bank statements, the lot! This surprised me but it seems that is all they need. I have heard from these forums that the less paperwork they ask for, the better your credit score is. If you have a good score, you are less risk and they just need to verify you and your husbands income to check the affordability works out. This is something I've read on here but I don't know 100%.

Everything sounds very similar to my application and although sometimes it feels like it's dragging in, you'll get there in the end. As I mentioned, everyone I spoke to at Halifax was really helpfull and didn't mind me asking questions. I would say if your ever worried, just give them a call.

I hope it all works out for the two of you. I will certainly have my fingers crossed! Please let me know how you get on, I'm sure you will be in your dream home soon! :T
