Making some pocket-money with online surveys - What sites do you use?

Hey there,
I am making some pocket-money with online surveys for some years now and tested several sites. Over the years I found that some sites work for me and others don't. However, in my opinion this is mostly because of my background and not because of the quality of the site. Some sites just have more surveys for people with my background and others haven't.
I searched online, if there is any listing with recommendations for specific survey sites based on the user's background but I couldn't find anything. I thought we might be able to create something like this ourselves by sharing our experiences. I would be great, if some of you who uses online survey sites, can join me, shortly post their background, and their experience with the survey sites they use. Maybe it would also be helpful to post sites which don't work for you.
One note before I start, with online survey sites I mean companies, which you can join for free, don't sell your addresses, and pays usually $1-$4 per survey of 15-45 min length. As you see, you won't get rich with them but you are highly flexible when to take the surveys and can make some pocket-money.
Sites which ask you for money to sign up, informs you that you might get contacted by business partners, or promise you $10 or more for surveys in general, are most likely scam.
The survey sites below work for me, meaning I get a good number (1-3) of invitations each day and qualify for 10-20% of them. Remember, if you get an invitation, you first have to fill our some screening questions. If you don't have the background, the survey is looking for, you will get screened out and get most of the time nothing but a sweepstakes ticket although you already answered questions for usually 2-3 min.
Ok, here I start. My background is male, US resident, full time employed, married with kids. The five sites I am currently use are, globaltestmarket.com, mysurvey.com, i-say.com, myview.com, and toluna.com
Here are short reviews of these sites based on my personal experience.
globaltestmarket.com
GlobalTestMarket is a global company accepting members from 49 countries worldwide. It is easily the one, I had the best experience with. I started with globaltestmarket when I lived in Germany so it is a great site at least for Europe and the US. Over the 4 years I take surveys with globaltestmarket, I received $550 from them and I am currently waiting for another $50 check. They usually pay $2 for 25 min surveys. Length and payment for single surveys can vary though. Their payment process it the only negative point as they just pay via checks and have a payout limit of $50. Checks need up to 8 weeks to get to you depending on your location.
mysurvey.com
MySurvey is part of Lightspeed Research and my second best site. MySurvey is the US/UK panel but if you google 'Lightspeed Research panel' you should be able to find panels for other countries. MySurvey currently doesn't accept new users but existing users can refer new ones. If you are interested in joining MySurvey, just PM me an email address and I get you an invitation.
I am a member with MySurvey (formerly us.lightspeed.panel) for over 4 years as well and got around $300 from them. They usually pay a little less than GlobalTestMarket ($1.50 for a 25 min survey) but you also get $0.05 for most surveys you won't qualify. In the past I also had several product testings with them where they send me stuff like shaving cream etc. These testings are better paid and you can keep the product most of the time. They pay via check, gift cards, or paypal but take a processing fee of $1.50 for payout. Payout limit is $15 for paypal and $50 for check, if I am not wrong. I usually wait until I get $50 to save processing fees.
i-say.com
I-say is part of Ipsos another global company with members in 44 different countries although their focus is heavily on North America and Europe. I-say is their English speaking panel. I am a member since 2 years and got around $100 from them. Payment is comparable to MySurvey but without the $0.05 for surveys you get screened out. Payout is via check or gift cards. They do product testings as well.
myview.com
Myview is a global company as well but I am not sure which countries are supported. I am a member for just 3 month now but already got $250 from them. However, $225 was for participating in a 4-weeks online diary/discussion board regarding technology at the work space. I am sure this was not one of their usual projects. Their reward points system is a little confusion (34150 points for a $25 gift card) which isn't usually a good sign as it prevents to see quickly how much you get paid for a survey. Usually, they pay even less than MySurvey and I-say ($1 for a 20 min survey) but you also receive points if you won't qualify. And of course, I got this huge diary payment, which means I will stick to them for some time. Payment is via gift cards only and with a $25 payout limit.
Myview don't recruit themselves but you might find their recruitment links on some survey review sites. If you are interested, you can also send my a PM with your email and I get you an invitation through the referral program.
toluna.com
Toluna is another global company with a lot of surveys and short paid polls. They pay like myview. I am a member since 3-4 years and got around $100 from them. However, it looks to me that they just spam survey invitations to everyone without their own prescreening. That means, you get a lot invitations where it is pretty clear you won't qualify but you waste time. For the last few month I have fallen below my personal 10% qualification limit for their survey invitations and I am about to cut them. However, I know people who are quite happy with Toluna. Payment is via check and gift cards.
Sorry for the wall of text. Would be great if some of you can post their experiences as well. Of course you can also ask here, if you have any questions regarding the survey sites above.
Cheers,

Hi Pocket-Money
Thank you for sharing your views and personal experience on the sites you mentioned above. I also enjoy making money on the side through paid surveys, but use a few different websites.
The websites i have made/make MONEY from are:
https://www.panelopinion.co.uk - has a low cash out rate of £10 (so once you make £10 you can choose to withdraw your money or continue adding to your total).
https://www.valuedopinions.co.uk - frequent surveys (daily) so theres a high chance you will make money quickly
https://www.yougov.co.uk - interesting/fun surveys
Rewarding survey websites:
https://www.surveyfriends.co.uk - this website is slightly different as you don't earn cash. They reward you with vouchers and gifts (tv's, cameras, computers etc) Although this isn't as good as getting money, the vouchers are very easy to win which is why i am recommending it!
Overall from my experiences my favourite survey website is panelopinion
These are some more great websites to add to your long list lol
Good Luck:eek: 2014: £20 voucher from SurveyFriends, £10 cash payout from Panel Opinion too and working towards more from Valued Opinions currently.
2013: £35 and £50 vouchers from SurveyFriends! More than £15 made from other paid surveys sites (Yougov, Panel Opinion, Valued Opinions, Pinecone, etc.) Happy so far!0 -
Thanks for sharing, Marteebies. Can you add some basic info to your demographic background like I did in the opening post?
Cheers,

I agree with you about toluna. I get tired of starting to do surveys and then being told I'm not eligible. As they ask for a lot of personal information when you sign up, surely they can use this to target people more effectively. Most of the time when I get e-mails I find the surveys are too long anyway - 25 minutes or more. The rewards are paltry and expire after some time. I've just converted all my remaining points for entries into this month's prize draw, then I'm going to ditch them.0

I'm trying to fill out my profile on panelopinion, but on the internet and sports parts, it's not taking my answers and keeps returning me to the page again and again.
Anyone know a way around this please?0 -
