In the area where I am we have white sauce with christmas pud, this is a plain vanilla sauce. If you google white sauce and christmas pud you will find quite a few recipes. Based on the options I didn't class custard as a sauce.
However, I'm not saying I'm correct so as its been pointed out, I could be wrong therefore peeps can make up their own mind. I'll leave a note on the OP.

I would agree with white sauce too - that's what all the restaurants I've been to for Christmas meals have served with Christmas Pudding0

how interesting , i dont think they have made it very clear, ive never myself heard of white sauce used on christmas pud , so i googled it and indeed there is white sauce used on it although its sweet, the white sauce i know is http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/white_sauce ..so if nothing ive learned something new today. ive put custard though just because they havent clarifed if they meant sweet or savouryCompers challenge 27/70
