I think the answer is custard isn't it? White sauce is usually served with fish.

I'd go with custard too (seeing as brandy butter isn't there).
    Will PM elver man.

    Hi Both,:santa2:

In the area where I am we have white sauce with christmas pud, this is a plain vanilla sauce. If you google white sauce and christmas pud you will find quite a few recipes. Based on the options I didn't class custard as a sauce.

However, I'm not saying I'm correct so as its been pointed out, I could be wrong therefore peeps can make up their own mind. I'll leave a note on the OP.

    Thanks:xmassign:

I would agree with white sauce which is traditional in all areas I have lived throughout the country

  • I would agree with white sauce too - that's what all the restaurants I've been to for Christmas meals have served with Christmas Pudding
  • how interesting , i dont think they have made it very clear, ive never myself heard of white sauce used on christmas pud , so i googled it and indeed there is white sauce used on it although its sweet, the white sauce i know is http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/white_sauce ..so if nothing ive learned something new today. ive put custard though just because they havent clarifed if they meant sweet or savoury
