Can't supply reference

Hi,

My younger sister was made redundant back in August. She had a decent redundancy package so took a few months off.

She has now decided to return to work and has been offered a job via an agency. They have asked her to supply reference details from her last employer. Problem is they no longer exist and she has no way of getting a reference from them.

Can anyone advise what she should do?

anyone used to work there she can get a personal reference from? (try looking on linked in). If they just want to confirm start and end dates contact + redundancy paperwork may do it?

She has her old bosses contact details (home address etc), I was wondering if she should just give those and include the company name. Do you think they will accept that?

They are asking for more than just start date etc.

There must be loads of people out there in similar situations. Company gone bust, no way of getting a reference.

I would phone the boss and ask him before giving out his details!
