Remortgage and pay off loans

Hi all, I've not posted here before but have on other forums on MSE.

I've a friend who needs advice (they all think I'm clued up on everything!!!!???)

He has a house valued at £180 K and owe's about £160 K + Loans of about £20 K (all sort term so killers)

All in all he is paying out about £1800 a month. He really needs to get this down to about £1000.

He is 43 years old and worrying if he can get a 20 odd year mortgage. His wife works part time. They earn OK a month and could easily pay £1200 but his line of work has peeks and troughs so the higher it is the more of a struggle it gets.

I'm not sure about 100% mortgages or mortgages and unsecured loans against the house with same broker etc.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
