Yep, it's minimum wage and it's probably split shifts as well.

Always amazes me how many walk to work carrying their fashion accessory coffee cup after popping into a coffee house - have you seen how much it costs!?0

I believe the headline was supposed to read "Starbucks to create 5000 new shops"0

It tastes like coffee.
That's because it is.
Coffee.
Heard one of their execs on the BBC saying customers want (pay) for convenience over quality.
Sounded Ratneresque to me.

FoxConn in China recently created another 5000 jobs too.
Not shift work though, and only making pesky high tech things like ipad2s and iphones.
This Starbucks announcement will really put their nose out joint.0 -

About as necessary and equally expensive IMO - daft thing is even though the Chinese will have worse working conditions and lower pay (if that's possible the benefit to them will be out of proportion to the student in the coffee shop.
I wonder if some people frequent these places to "gloat" and feel "superior" guess that goes for any brand though."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

I'm not anti-coffee shops or anything. If I'm catching an early morning train or need to meet someone for a chat away from the office then Starbucks or somewhere similar is quite handy and does the job. But it's just coffee at the end of the day and I don't really understand it as a lifestyle or every day thing. There are people in my office who buy one every single day. I know everyone has their vices, but nearly £1,000 a year on takeaway coffee when you earn £18,000 after tax seems ludicrous.0
