My workplace is closing before the end of my contract.

It's a short term contract, not being made redundant.
Short term/Fixed term contracts can have the dates changed on them. Mine is ending earlier than intended - they would have to give you notice as you are employed by them.0 -
If they haven't given you any notice yet, and you were due to finish end December, then they would have to pay you to the end of the contract even if you couldn't work the week before xmas due to the change of location. Unless your contract has some sort of mobility clause saying you'll work anywhere, or at a number of different locations, then they have varied the terms of your contract. They have not given you any notice about this and given the distance it's not reasonable to expect you to work at the new location, it's not like it's just down the road, so what I imagine will happen is you'll just get paid in lieu for that week, or get paid as normal but told not to come in. A savvier employer would have ended your contract a little early but it seems they have neglected to do this. They could say they expect you to go to the new location, but if you can't then that's kind of their problem unless there is a mobility clause in your contract. If you're really needed, they could offer to pay taxi or something - don't know how critical your job is. in that case, you'd have to continue working until your contract end date/christmas close date.
If I were you I'd just sit still for now - you've made them aware of the issue, they haven't dealt with it, you may well get a week's pay in lieu out of it.0
