    Hi
I have received one of these for 2006/07, am I likely to receive them for the other years upto now as well?

    Thanks

Just as your signature - some things aren't always predictable! But if the 06/07 P800 is fairly recent ...... it is unlikely you will get any more contiguous to that year.

HMRC are primarily dealing with 10/11 at the moment. Where they dip back in time - they tend to look at all the earlier years together and it's unusual they are fragmented.

Now that is a pain as I was expecting a rebate for 2008/2009! :o

If you have the figures for that year ..... ask them for it? I can't guarantee it's not 'in process' ..... but the PAYE system does tend to do the earlier years, for a taxpayer, en bloc.

And they only issue P800s where there is an over / under payment. Which means most people in PAYE won't get them. There must be a small minimum on the over payment and a larger one on the overpayment where they don't issue them - but these 'de minimis' tend not to be published.

It will be about £180....is that too small for them?

No ..... if your arithmetic is right, they will certainly refund that.

The minimum for unclaimed repayments is likely to be circa £10 / £20. Haven't a clue on underpayments. It was initially £300 when these P800s first surprised people - but will have been reduced to circa £50 / £100 now they're working more or less to current years.

  • hi,you know where its says, "a payable order for this amount has been issued to you seperately" does this mean i will get a cheque through post because on the notes sec 16 it says you could also "carry the amount forward into a tax calculation for a later year" so there are two options in which to gain the money back, how would i know which one is applicable? thankyou

It isn't crystal clear - but the carry forward should only apply where there's a further P800 imminent.

    If it says
a payable order for this amount has been issued to you seperately

...... that on the cover - then a cheque will be on its way.
