Despite multiple uses of the term "leather" in the listing it isnt. Its true construction - "synthetic leather" - i.e. plastic ,is only mentioned once. So dont get your expectations up too much

I'm put off by the metallic magnetic fastener just hanging to the side when open and just waiting to smack into the screen.

I don't find it an issue. The "leather" is pretty stiff so it doesn't smack by itself - you'd have to actually shove it into the screen

You can make this imitate an expensive case by the use of an elastic band (like the postie leaves at your doorstep) and a light from poundland

I have something similar from 7dayshop and I just clip the floppy magnetic bit back on itself if you see what I mean.
(I know what I mean!!)
