Hello, I am new to this forum so excuse me if I am posting in the wrong section of the forum.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice about CAPQUEST...
I had a phone call from them to my work phone this morning asking to speak with me. I work in a call centre and was not available to take the call so a colleague of mine took the massage. They left a ref number and a telephone number and said I must call back urgently.
I have in the past had debt problems but entered into an IVA 2 years ago to sort it out. I have never defaulted on my IVA and in the past 2 years have not heard from anyone trying to recover money from me. I didn't think they are allowed now I have an IVA?
I am really worrying about this phone call and don't know what to do about it. Do I contact the company I have my IVA with and tell them I am being chased again or do I call them back to see exactly what they want?
I am worried that I may have missed off one of my debts from my IVA and that is why I am suddenly being chased? But why after 2 years...
If anyone out there has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!!

If you phone them from work, they will be back and make your life hell.
See if they write to you with specific details. This could be anything - maybe a fishing exercise.0 -
Thank you, I will call them tomorrow from my mobile and maybe withholds number. I am really upset that they contacted me at work, can they do that? I thought that once I had my IVA set up they were no longer allowed to make contact with me while my IVA was in place.
They are so scary and rude I am really worried about calling them. I dont know what to do, do I call my company who I have my IVA with and let them deal or do I call cap quest? I would really like to tell them to stop calling me at work, I work in a call centre and it's really embarrassing. They aren't calling my direct line, they are coming straight through to switchboard!!
I have been in my IVA for 2 years... Don't understand why they are pestering me now when I haven't heard from anyone in such a long time...0 -
Just bumping this incase there is anyone who can offer me some advice...0

If it is a pain to make the effort of writing a letter, just think for a moment that if you phone, you will get the pain of phone harassment for years with no effort on your part.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have had a lot of experience with Capquest and they are the lowest of the low... Crapquest as many people call them.
First golden rule of a debt collection agency is never ever, ever, phone them. They will pressure you, convince you that you are a purge on society and will even sell a skateboard to their granny!!! No seriously by communicating by letter you have a paper trail and what they say must be correct if they put it in writing as you have the evidence.
Wait for them to write to you. The letter should come in the next day or so. Dont call them back, even if they call again - they should never say who is calling as they would be in deep bother if they did.
When you write to them state that you want all communication in writing and to remove any numbers they have. They have to honour this or again will be in bother. Ask them to prove the debt and explain you are in an IVA and list the companies that are covered by it. Capquest specialise in buying redundant debt off companies for pence in the pound. So say you still owed £10k to a credit card and the debt was going nowhere they would buy it for a £1k and chase you for the £10k using their techniques.
Send the letter recorded and keep a copy. And then wait - dont phone them and await their response. Then come back to us on here and we'll take it from there.
They can be defeated and often they are.0 -

Thank you so much for your reply.
One thing I forgot to mention was that they managed to find my personal email address a few days before. They sent me an email not disclosing who they were and asked me to call them, so I did. I was confused and thought it might have been my IVA company trying to get in touch.
When I called them they told me that they had written me 5 letters but as they wouldn't confirm my address to me I guessing that they have written to an old address.
I am completely baffled as I thought that all of my creditors were bound by my IVA now.
Shall I call them today and give them my new address so that we can communicate through letter?
I was so young when I got into debt and I thought that by having an IVA set up I would be able to get my life back on track and have no more bother from these companies.
I am just really embarrassed that they have called me at work and I'm really worried that they will keep on. They told my colleague that they were calling from CAPQUEST too and give her the ref number which relates to my case.0 -
