Hi, I have signed up to a credit file company to view my credit file
I've noticed on my file that I had a store card with some money owing on it a few years ago. I moved address and never knew i had any owing.
Its showing that I deafulted on it and I have a CCJ and the court date was in February this year.
The date satisfied is blank.
what should I do?
Thanks

If I ring up and find out about the CCJ, if I paid it would the CCJ stay on my file for 6 years from today?
Is there anything I can do to say I knew nothing about it as I didnt live at the address they must have sent things to
thank you0 -
The CCJ stays on your credit files for 6 years from the actual judgment date.
If you didn't receive court papers due to a mistake by the catalogue company, then you might have a case for getting it set aside.
If you simply didn't give them a new address when you should have known that there was something owing, then usually that won't be good enough grounds.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I rang up and asked them to change it, and they said they had at the time.
Is that a good enough reason, I dont have any proof to show I rang though.
I think the judgement was for £375 in february, would i have any massive interest to pay aswell?
thank you0 -
How does judgement being set aside differ from satisfying a CCJ? Would set-aside judgement show up on a Bureau check?
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm asking from the pov of a Parking Company sending court papers to an old address after you've moved, and judgment being made by default. In that scenario surely you would get judgement set aside if you've had no chance to defend yourselfB.A - Shut up fool!0 -
Proof is the stumbling block that most people come up against. You don't anticipate needing it at the time.

Its ok, my questions are similar. If it is set aside would it dissapear from my file, and I would just be left with the deault?
I'm applying for a job at the moment, will this effect me getting the job?0 -

If you get it set aside, it gives you time to either prepare a defence to fight it, or clear the balance in full within the 28 days you get to avoid the CCJ showing up on your credit file. You'd still be left with the default though.
The only way a CCJ would affect you getting a job is if they needed to do a credit check as part of the recruitment process, which they do in any roles in finance, such as bank jobs. Otherwise it won't affect you at all.0 -
Ah thank you.
Can it still be set aside even though the court date was February this year?
Was I supposed to attend court?0 -
It will only be set aside if you can prove they didn't change your address when you requested them too.
You would have only needed to attend court if you were going to defend it.0
