Why Quidco?

Options
I'm thinking of beginning to use the cashback sites to earn £20 per month as MSE suggests you can using Quidco, GreasyPalm, Rpoints, and Free Fivers.

MSE says that Ropints is bests if you are spending less than £500 a year. That's me. MSE shows Quidco to be less favourable on several counts but most posters seem to use it, why?

Any opinions about what I may gain from opening accounts on all four (and others I find) without buying through them would be greatly appreciated. I'm desperately not spending!

I'm not sure I understand your post completely. You don't earn money as such through Quidco, you receive a percentage of your spending back from merchants, via Quidco, in the form of 'cashback'. So you need to spend money to get some back. Think of it as a kind of 'discount' on things you needed to buy anyway.
Sorry if I have misunderstood what you were asking. I don't know much about the other sites you mention, but I've heard that greasypalm doesn't offer such good incentives as Quidco.

  • I use quidco for the following reasons:

    1) There are clickthrough sites where you can earn money
    2) You only pay if you earn over £5 per year otherwise no charges.
    3) You actually earn money, not points etc which have to be converted.
    4) The offers can be very good. - Contents insurance £110 per year with £60 cash back!!

I have been with Quidco since September and so has my husband and we have both had over £250 cashback each. Best one was £120 for Lloyds Car insurance but they messed us around so have now taken a new one out with Barclays (£85 cashback) Lloyds did pay out the £120 so that is quite cool.

Quidco is only worth it if you were going to buy it anyway or if you like me enjoy a flutter then you can get some cash back. Beware not everything track so see it as an extra bonus.

Good luck there is a Quidco Tread on here somewhere too.

I have spent very little money via quidco, but I have recieved loads back

all the others take a slice, or will only pay out when you hit X amount
Quidco gives the most as well.

Eg mobvile phone contract, quidco gave 50 quid, the others gave 25-30.

    No brainer for me!

I have only just heard of Quidco so please be patient with me.

I have just registered with them but not filled in any payment details yet. I have done an online check for home insurance on the Quidco site with Lloyds Insurance and got a great quote. It says I can get £120 cashback as well if I do this? Seems too good to be true!

    1. How does the site work?

    2. It says I have to set up a PayPal account? Do I do this now?

    Hi :hello:

I have rpoints and Quidco, both give cash-back and have some click throughs such as Kelkoo, which you can do once a day. Quidco tends to pay a bit more than rpoints but it doesn't always have the associated retailer.

If I'm looking for something I'll go to quidco and do a search with Kelkoo, the high street web or shopping.com. You get a small payment just for clicking through to a retailer. Having decided who I'm going to buy it from I then see which site gives me the best cash back, it's usually Quidco. Being a real MSE I then check http://www.vouchercodes.com/ to see if there are any valid vouchers for that site. Finally I click through quidco to the retailer enter the voucher code if I have one and away you go.

It sounds like a real pain but actually it becomes quite good fun. We recently found an item we wanted which was retailing through one company at £70. By the time we had used a voucher and got our cash-back we paid £28. I then paid for it with my egg card and got another 1% back.

    It's a great sport.:rotfl:

We don't use paypal for either site we have money paid directly into our current account. We have just received £100 from rpoints.

As I'm a newbie to all this, sounds a little confusing! lol

So if I go ahead with this online quote for Lloyds on Quidco, does the £120 get paid into the PayPal account I have to open? And I can withdraw it easy enough?

    Hi LB

You can use paypal but it's a bit of a pain to set up. With Quidco you can get funds paid into your bank account using a BACS payment. You pay a fee to paypal to draw your funds too where BACS payment to your bank are free.

All you have to do is register your account.

So the short answer is yes get your insurance through Quidco provided the quote is competitive. It takes a while for the money to be credited but once it is just enter a request for a BACS payment.

    Enjoy

I just switched my gas & electric to a cheaper company via Quido and got £35 cashback, and changed my home insurance to a different company quoting exactly the same as I pay now and got a hefty £75 cashback.

I earned £110 for managing to save myself £150 a year... It's a damned good deal to me!
