Theres a butchers by me that claims to be cheaper than all the big supermarkets and probably the cheapest in the uk. Its doing turkeys at £2.84kg compared with £3.00/£3.20 at asda and tesco/...
How is this possible?
Its a single butchers which is quite large and has lots of freezers for customers to look in, it always has really good deals and is always vey busy and which has about 20 big vans that go every weekend to carboots and shows etc... So it definately has a big turnover...
Could it beat supermarkets or do you reckon there injecting the turkeys with water to bulk them out?
Thanks

Do you want to risk ruining the 'biggest' dinner of the year on an unknown Turkey?
Why not try something of his before committing to a Turkey .
PS wot do I know about cheap Turkeys , this year we are downgrading to one from Waitrose.0 -

We have no way of knowing, but ask yourself "Are the supermarkets selling them and the cheapest they can, or are they selling for what they think we will buy for, or even just matching their competition"?
Is the butcher selling them as cheap as he can, to encourage people into his shop where they may buy other things and even become regular customers?0 -
If the butcher sells you (and all his other customers) a rotten turkey, he will be out of business by April.
Tesco and the rest, will carry on regardless.0 -
If the butcher is usually busy as you say, he will be fine.
Mind you, did you see Eastenders the other week and Mo's bargain "turkey"?0 -
What I want to know is where is this butchers? What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I am guessing these are frozen Turkeys as he has freezers, and wont have fresh yet anyway.
If this is the case then Morrisons have the best deals on frozen, can be as low as £2.27 per kg, £10 for a 4.4kg bird, and they are all BRITISH.0 -

British or british reared?
I never buy my turkey from the supermarkets are most of htem are bernard mathews.
I allways buy a turkey crown/breast from our butcher..and every year is absolutely scrummy.
I agree try a few things from that butcher and see waht you think
We have a cheap/discount type butcher/ industrial unit type shop... I did go there a few times, but to be honest you can notice the difference... the chickens and chicken breasts were so pumped up with water etc and were totally tasteless, they also had huge trays of mince and sausages etc.... but they were all practically all fat...
and then i found out most of their meat is imported...
whats the saying if it sounds to good to be true/a total barginWork to live= not live to work0 -
