need dead hedge replaced

Can anyone recommend someone who could dig out a hedge that that was killed by last years bad winter, and replace it with something a bit hardier?

I'm in the Newtownabbey area.

Thanks

  • Same here... also in Newtownabbey area... Griselinia hedge killed off thanks to last year's harsh winter. Not sure whether to dig it up or watch and wait. Suspect the former... Anyone nearby with similar problems, or with an answer ? Thanks !

Have your griselinia plants started to regenerate from the base? If so you can snap off the dead old branches by hand and leave the new shrub to come up. An alternative is to plant a climber like clematis underneath so that it weaves through the branches and disguises them.
If there is not regeneration by now then the plants can be pulled out by hand. My 8 year old was able to snap off branches and pull up dead plants so it's not difficult. There is a ready made planting hole left which you can pop a new plant in to.
If this winter kills the griselinia I'll pull them out and get something hardier but I'll give them another year.
