It has always been illegal to use untreated human waste as fertiliser. There are diseases that can be passed on - I seem to remember one of the types of hepatitis and polio as examples.0 -

Interestingly I have learned that my grandmother's rates will be decreasing following the reappraisal. I will admit to having been skeptical about the reports that some people's rates would go down and not up.2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
To those politicians that are lying through their teeth about water rates etc. I would like to ask them how they intend funding their excessive salaries and the thousands of additional civil servants to wipe their butts for them.
All the parties know that local taxation has to rise significantly to fund the tier after tier of irrelevant and useless government that we are (allegedly) demanding (I would actually like to know who is demanding all thse governmental offices and exactly how much they are contributing towards paying for it all .. often you find it is the ones contributing least that demand the most). Maybe if the politicians stopped telling their lies and were honest about how much taxation we will have to pay over the next decade they would see a significantly different answer to the question. The bigget issue is that several of the parties entire remit is to rule as many as possible out of paying taxes, rates, etc. which means that a smaller and smaller number of people will be expected to fund everything.
At the minute there is not a single party that is being honest to the electorate ... all they are doing is pandering to the dumb masses telling them what they believe they want to hear to get elected ... well I WANT SOME HONESTY (but doubt that I will get it).

Ivan, the day this every happens, YOu will find me running naked through the streets of Belfast!
Agree totally with you, am so tempted to not even biother voting, as I know that as soon as they are elected they will find some new excuse not to talk to each other and do F^&k all as usual!0 -

These number ten petitions seem to be in the news a lot. Some clever chap set one up for these new water taxes.

Petitions aren't going to shake the political foundations!
If you don't like it don't pay. Speak to them in a language they understand - money.
I can't look at the Belfast Telegraph any more. Every time I buy it there's an article about how public funds are squandered. If you want to know where the money has gone look at the huge PWC building in town. Civil servants can't turn a light on without getting PWC in to write a report on it.Stercus accidit0 -
We are on a meter our bill for the first 6 months is £200. But the summer is yet to arrive with the usual water the plants and lawn so they to can live!!!:j
We are only two, if you have kids don't go on a meter.
If you have a property that has a direct sale appeal for families be careful if you change, families don't like meters.
We were also on a meter with children WOW we were paying more than non metered people in the area, and they could use all they liked.
oH BY THE WAY WE PAY £50.30 PER 6 MONTHS FOR RAIN WATER0 -
