philips sonicare - worth selling for parts?

My beloved philips sonicare toothbrush broke at the weekend  £150 of toothbrush gone
I phoned philips today to see if it can be fixed as I did something to the spindle bit when I was putting a new head on it. They have said it is unfixable as it is the spindle that is broken but have said I can have 20% off a new one if I order from them :T Very nice of them since it is out of warranty.
What I am wondering is if the broken one (which still works perfectly apart from the spindle the brush heads sit on is now sitting too low too grip the brush head spring thing) is worth anything for spare parts on ebay?
There is only one on there at a fixed price of £17.99. Has anyone sold similar for parts?
The new ones are currently £165 on the philips website and I don't think I could face paying that amount again for a toothbrush.
