Hmm .. I selected Kitchen & home, small appliances, and got a very bizarre selection of things displayed, including stuff from Toys & Games > Arts & Crafts > Bead Art & Jewellery-MakingI try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Selecting a price doesn't seem to filter the results - or at least it didn't when I was trying. I selected Groceries > Pet Food, with a discount range of 41%-100% and initially a max of £10 price. Results all appear to be over £10, so I changed my max price to £2 and the new results page didn't look any different to the one generated by my original search criteria.
I've not used this tool beforehand, so I'm not sure if a discounted before/after price should be displayed, but neither of the results pages I generated had any indication that there had previously been a higher price on any of the products.0 -
Thanks for all your feedback so far.
Grunhilda, we've now added the grocery section for you if you want to play with it.
For those who click 'free delivery' and it came up with items with a delivery charge, would you be able to post a link to the relevant tool results page please?
We are having trouble finding examples of that happening. It might not be free 'supersaver' delivery, but free delivery with a Marketplace seller? Ta
No unfortunately not; here is one example for you:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/rh=n:364316031,p_8:75-100&sort=reviewrank_authority&low-price=min&high-price=10,p_76:1-?!!!!!amazon-discount-finder-21
The third item in I believe has a £1.99 delivery charge. And I found this on quite a few of the things I checked on.

I've just done a search under toys, building & construction, 75 - 100% off, and it is throwing up things that aren't reduced or, if they are, the postage takes the price back up. (Sorry, not sure I have explained that very well)
One example here.

This is always going to be a problem for an app like this for Amazon. Marketplace sellers that have basic accounts cannot choose their own postage costs, Amazon set fixed amounts for postage. This means that sometimes to compete with Pro-Merchant sellers (who can set their own postage costs), the basic account holders have to set the item price really low to offset a high postage fee.hatewashingmachines wrote: »It doesnt take into account the postage and packaging.... yes some items were free postage but some made the item really expensive. A 99p item was £3.99 postage so have to be careful.Apart from that it brought up some heavily discounted stuff.
For example, a Pro-Merchant seller might offer free postage and an iem price of £5. A basic seller selling the same item might have their postage cost set by Amazon to £4.99 so to compete they might set the item price to 1p. At first glance this looks like a bargain but the overall cost is the same.
This could skew some results for the discount finder.0 -
Hmm not working for me - I put in Kitchen and Home 90 - 100% discount and free supersaver delivery and it came up with no discounts, 50% discounts and postage costs:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/rh=n:392546011,p_8:90-100,p_76:1-&sort=price&low-price=min&high-price=max?!!!!!amazon-discount-finder-21
(I like a bargain! :money:

A few rather big issues here:
When I search in toys and select max price £10, it actually only finds things OVER £10 - not under. I thought that the reverse might happen if I select £10 as a min price, but it still only finds things OVER £10. It would be better to have the max and min price in two different drop-down boxes - or ditch the min price altogther - who wants that anyway?
I anything is selected in the 'Price' box I get no results at all - maybe due to the issue above. As long as I leave this blank I do get some things coming up, but they are not at the % discount I selected.
For example even though I selected 75-100% discount, I got lots of airfix models (arts and crafts subgroup) with around 10-13% discount, but also loads of things come up that aren't discounted at all.
Here is an example: I have searched within Toys and Games for Building and construction toys, 75-100% discount (no price selected), and ticked free delivery. I then ticked the Lego subgroup on the Amazon page and get this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/rh=n:364074031,p_8:75-100,p_76:1-&sort=reviewrank_authority&low-price=any&high-price=undefined?!!!!!amazon-discount-finder-21#/ref=sr_nr_p_4_0?rh=n%3A468292%2Cn%3A%21595312%2Cn%3A%21595314%2Cn%3A364074031%2Cp_8%3A75-100%2Cp_76%3A186763031%2Cp_4%3ALEGO&bbn=364074031&sort=reviewrank_authority&ie=UTF8&qid=1322590774&rnid=365492011
Only 2 items are actually discounted and only by a small % - the rest are full price.
I wouldn't really bother using this tool in it's current state - sorry.0 -
It would be great if we could add any wording to the search facility, for example; I am looking for a wedding ring but want it to be whittled down to white gold. If you have a text box so I could enter the phrase 'white gold' so it would filter the desired options with the added extra of filtering white gold at the same time IYSWIM? Sorry, hopeless at explaining
