I am surely confused at this point. The OP has "an accountant" acting ... Iit sounds as if the OP should speak with that accountant since s/he may have messed things up; s/he will almost certainly have had copies of statements of account and be able to assist somewhat better than an open forum?0

No he hasnt copies of these either and he is now living in the west indies so doesnt have all the files to hand.....

Right, just to update you I have rung them again and spoken to a lovely lady who knew exactly what she was on about and was really helpful.
What happened is my accountant told me a figure that was £300-odd less than they worked out.
They ignored my correspondence about contacting me via my parent's address and therefore all the statements had gone to my old UK address which was no use as they had no forwarding address for me.
She has confirmed I owe nothing as the second demand for the £500 has been wiped off as I had left the country.
So at least an answer, although I am going to ask my accountant why his figure is different to theirs...0 -
Well I never intended to offend anyone. But I still say letter is more effective than phone.
Unfortunately they never had the courtesy to reply to my letter.....0
