Yet Another Fredickson Internation Limited Post

Hi all

I'm new to the forum and have seen other posts about Fredrickson International but am getting mixed solutions and do not know what to do, i'm desperate for some help. Thanks in advance.

The letter says

We have made enquries for confirmation of your current place of residence. Information has been recieved confirming that your address details have changed to this address.

Due to data protection legislation details of the account are not included in this letter. Please call us immediately on 0845 8396017 quoting the above reference for more information

Yours Sincerely,

Fredrickson International Ltd.

From other posts i've worked out that they are unsure if this is me at this address. I have moved several times in the last 10 years or so and am now living at home with parents. I am very worried that they will send door collectors here and also that this will affect my parents credit rating which is prestine .. at the moment. I believe this particular letter relates to MBNA which I owe several thousand pounds.

I DO have many many debts which I am struggling with and am currently unemployed so no way can I afford to pay any of the debts. I have had advice from CAB seeking banktruptcy who have sent letters to all my creditors telling them they should only deal with the CAB. It seems that the debt has been sold to Fredrickson so the letter that CAB sent previoulsy has done nothing.

Is it true that if the debt is 6 years old I don't have to pay? I think I may have made payments within these six years.

Is it worth sending the "prove it" letter because then I will be admiting that I owe this money, right? Especially if I attach a postal order for £1 as read on other posts.

Many Thanks for any input on this!

    Hi

Don't worry about this affecting your parent's credit rating - providing you have no joint finances with parents (joint bank account or loan etc) then their finances cannot be affected.

6years - its only if there has been no payment from you for 6years and no written acknowledgement from you (or someone like CAB acting on your behalf) that you owe the money that your debts could be statute barred. SB means you don't need to pay, but that the debt still exists.

The prove it letter specifically does not acknowledge the debt as it states in it that you don't.
The prove it letter does not have a £1 enclosed - that is a CCA request, which you don't want to send.

What makes you think its MBNA? Most people ignore this letter and wait for a letter giving details of the account / alleged debt. To which they reply with the prove it lette. Template here - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2

  • Hi thanks the very quick reply

I have no joint accounts with my parents. I was worried because I was told that debt goes on an address aswel as a name, hence asking.

Well there's no way it's SB then because I have almost definitly made a payment within the last 6 years. I've been on and off work for years which is were most of the debt has come from.

Should I wait until they write again or send the "prove it" asap? I only ask because the link you very kindly sent me states company name etc ..

I'm thinking it's MBNA because the majority of search results for Fredrickson in google comes back with credit cards and I did have an MBNA credit card, plus they havn't bothered me for a couple of years and now all of a sudden i'm getting this.

Years ago credit historys were linked to addresses but now its only people you are financially associated with.

I'd recommend waiting until they write again before you reply with the prove it letter. They will very likely write with some more details of the debt they claim is owed.

  • Great thanks for that, I'll wait and see what happens and report back :)

I have just started a daily text message from "Fredrickson" quoting a reference number and asking me to urgently call them.

I was in debt about 6 years ago, but paid everything off - so am trying to ignore these texts. I'm finding them increasingly annoying though, but don't want to contact them at all for fear of triggering more unwanted communication.
