  • Hi Goldrush. Echoing Deepindebt, and having read this forum extensively for the last 3 months, creditors can react differently. However, commenting on my own experience I can report no problems at all so far. Santander overdraft, egg (now barclaycard), littlewoods, virgin (MBNA), santander credit card, Kays catalogue, egg loan (moorcroft): no phone calls (except one from Kays who are my lowest creditor £120), and all accepting DMP.

I now sleep at now, have a small emergency cash fund, and value money whilst spending it less:T

You should not enter a DMP lightly, especially in a world seemingly full of credit cards. Neither should you feel overly frightened IMHO. There is plenty of support and plenty more in the same boat. Be proud of yourself for facing up to your debts and deciding to tackle them:beer:

As others have said make sure you ask for a basic account and if offered an overdraft say no. I got ours over the phone with Co-op in next to no time. Make sure it is with a bank you have not got any debt with.
DMP worked fine for us. Good luck.
Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.

  • Good luck with the DMP.
As other have said, dont worry about bailiffs etc. For me, at least, after signing up with payplan i slept for the first time in ages and no longer cry (very often anyway) about my debts.

And can i just say, Mort - wow!!! well done!
