returning a 3 4 2 item to boots?

i bought 2 boxes of lego and a storage box to put it in from boots on line store on their 3 for 2 offer. i didn't read it properly and the storage box isn't what i assumed it was.

100% my fault.

just looked at their returns policy and I can return it for a refund but they don't do exchanges (and i guess the refund would be £0 as it was free!). then it says i can return it to a store for a refund, and doesn't mention exchanging.

does anyone know if i can return it to the store and order something else for the same value? or get a credit for the amount?

or any other suggestions?

I've exchanged 3-2-4 items before, you get an item upto the same value (obviously within the same offer) or if you want to you can pay more if you find something which costs more. Otherwise you lose the freebie (if its the lower priced item).

They would have seen this lots before and are fine with exchanges as long as the item coming back is in resellable condition for them, you wont get a credit for the same amount though, its exchange or nothing.

I have returned a 3for2 item to Boots.

They told me I could exchange for an item of the same value(If I remember correctly it had to be another item from the offer) or they would refund me 1/3 of the total cost. I exchanged.

I have a feeling it may vary from store to store though.
