I'm now debt free!!

Thursday was an emotional day for me! after 5 years of mis-managing my finances and clocking up £8500 in credit cards, over drafts and loans my savings account was finally higher than my personnal loan so I waved goodbye to £5,544.72

I'm very proud of myself as it was last christmas I realised the danger of my situation and in January 2011 pulled everything together under one loan then committed every penny to clearing it. My earlist estimate for repayment was June 2012 but thanks to some daft hours at work, a few months working 2 jobs and one week on a medical study (thankfully no side effects) I repaid the full amount in just under 11 months.

I guess now I can start saving for all those things I've wanted to buy for a long time - £350 and saving!

  • Hi,

Well done on clearing the debts. Might help others if you can post some of your wisdom on how you did it.

Also, make sure you add yourself to the DFW roll of honour.
