Paying off a debt that nobody seems to notice?

Hi all.

about 3 years ago i was on income support and took out a social fund loan (i think it was called a budgeting loan?). But before i had finished paying it off, i came off benefits.
I have never heard anything about paying the loan off since, although i think i may owe approx £800 on it.

What would you do about paying it back? Would you keep quiet in the hopes that its been forgotten (i dont think i can do that, i would have a guilty conscience) or would you find out how to pay it back (which i think is the only option i have)??

Because i want to pay it back, who do i contact about it? I am scared of getting into trouble for not paying it back sooner if i do contact them :(

you wont get into trouble for contacting them & wanting to pay it back. If anything they are at fault for letting it slip.

    try ringing 0800 032 7952.

what phone number is that (as in, where does it put me through to)? I am so worried about them giving me a hard time about it.

they won't give you a hard time. they maybe more in shock but they will be happy for you to pay it back like any other debt only pay what you can reasonably afford.
