Standing Still - Got to get Moving

Options
Thought I would start a diary to try and motivate me to get my debts paid off.

A bit of back story. Just over a year ago I finally confessed to partner about having £8,500 of debt which he didn't know about. He used his savings to pay off £2000 and helped get other debt transferred to 0% deal. I then got a temporary increase of hours at work so was full of good intentions to pay off debts within the year and be debt free by the time the temporary hours came to an end in February. Well it's nearly Christmas and have just realised that I am basically no further forward with debt repayments. I have decreased the 0% original debt to £2,500 but on the other hand have also managed to run up debt on other card which means than overall debt still stands at nearly £6000. I am so fed up with myself, can't believe I have done it again, seem to spend my whole life just running up debt, when will I ever learn. It's not even as if the money is spent on nice things like holidays, clothes etc it just gets wasted on day to day rubbish. Well now go to try and pay off as much as possible by February as my income will be dropping by at least £200 a month from then. Good thing is though I no longer have any credit cards so can not run up and more debt. Just really annoyed with myself, when will I ever learn?

Will be back later to post an SOA so I can see what things look like

  • Well I haven't done the SOA but have done a budget for December and am going to post the rough outline below. On paper (as usual) it looks great but I'm sure my purse has a whole in the bottom as I don't know where my money goes. Going to start up a spending diary too to try and identify where it's going.

    Income - £3008

    Bills/DD - £1238
    Debt - £495
    Childcare - £200
    Petrol - £120
    Work Expenses - £60
    Xmas - £400
    Groceries & Other spending - £495
