Competency query

Hello
I'm filling out an application form. I'm quite experienced in competency based applications but I've got one I'm not sure how to answer.
The competency is "Committed to delivery of a public service". Not sure what this means or how to go about answering it.
Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks.

Answer could be something like this
I am very committed to the delivery of a public service, this is illustrated by the fact that I have worked in various customer facing roles throughout my 10 years with the council.I have worked on the reception desk at 2 sports centres and I have also worked as a customer service officer at the One Stop Centre.I have always been very committed to delivering high standards within my roles and I have undertaken many different training courses in connection with this.0 -
With any competency based application you need to state: a) what you did, b) why you did it, c) how you did, and d) the outcome. So just repeating that you are committed to delivery of a public service without proper examples - transferable if appropriate - doesn't provide the evidence of how you are so committed.
So, along the lines of: when I worked as ..., I was responsible for this / was specifically asked to do this .... etc ... . In order to achieve this, I did this ... with the result that .... .
If you can find outward-facing examples (i.e. to customers rather than colleagues) it would be better. You may get examples from the general literature about the job / employer what sort of things they like to publicise about their achievements.0 -
I work for a very well known corporation and the public sector remit is at the core of its values: in my opinion this competency question might be more on the lines of delivering a service of value to the community, or to the license fee payer, or whoever is the recipient of what you do- IYSWIM. ie, it is not a for profit operation. This could be community-orientated services, council, education, hospitals...
Is there a way you can find out a bit more about the company and its remit?0
